Nice story with a message! Reminds me a bit of my situation as an artist... lived in big cities, but I guess I'm a hillbilly at heart... not a problem with a motorcycle and internet in today's world :-)
I studied in a city, Thessaloniki, and as a student I couldn't imagine going back to live in a village again. But as I'm slowly saying goodbye to my 20s, I've come to wish for some peace and quiet of the countryside.
As you said, just give me a vehicle and 5km safety-distance from the city and I'm all happy (which is how I live today) :D
