The unfortunate mistake - short story

Danny woke up startled and with a gigantic headache. He opened his eyes slowly, and despised the sun peaking through the open curtains for a minute. He had no idea where he was, but he was certainly not in his own apartment.

Yesterday was his last day at work. His work-friends arranged a party.  Originally they went only for dinner, but it turned into a drinking spree, and they went totally overboard. He definitely had way too much too drink and he couldn't even remember how he got home or to wherever he was. He looked around him but did not recognize anything. Nothing seemed familiar.

Perhaps he would feel better if he got another few hours sleep, but one thing was for sure. He couldn't get up now, even if he wanted to. His head felt too heavy, and he lay back on the bed with his eyes closed. He tried to think where they went and what they did last night, but he just couldn't remember a thing.

After a few minutes he lifted his head and scanned the room again.  The room was neat, and looked like a hotel room, but he couldn't be sure. His clothes were on the chair next to him, and it felt strangely awkward being in someone else's bed.

His mates really played a trick on him. Danny sat up straight and was just about to get up to get dressed when he heard someone in the bathroom. He thought about just getting up and running away, but that would be rude. He has never had a one night stand before, because that was not his scene. He was not that type of person.

He started to panic. He has never been in this situation before, and didn't know how to react when the girl finally emerged from the bathroom.

She was not bad looking. Definitely not an oil painting, and not his type at all. She had dark hair and brown eyes, and was a little on the plumpy side. Not that he had an issue with that, but he really liked blond girls.

He smiled at her and pulled the covers up to his chin. He suddenly felt vulnerable, and shy. He had no idea what he was supposed to say to her.

She climbed back into the bed, and also seemed shy, but he noticed the diamond ring on her finger and felt like kicking himself.

A married girl. He had a freaking one night stand with a married girl!

She came closer and kissed him on his mouth.

"Morning my love....I still can't believe that we got married last night!"

Danny lay back on the bed. Here he was, with no idea where he was, and now he was married to a stranger. What did he get himself into?
