< The second story on ‘the rich man and a beggar named Lazarus’ > < Caution ! This article is a fiction based on the Bible – NIV - . >
Said the maidservant. ‘The beggar at the gate has the same face as my master.’ Said the maid's mother. ‘Just give him food and don't go near him.’ ‘He's pitiful’ said the maidservant.
The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham's side. The rich man also died and was buried.
In hell, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side.
So he called to him, 'Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.'
But Abraham replied. “You never called Lazarus’ name while you were alive, but after you die do you only call your twin brother Lazarus’ name?”
‘Lazarus led a wrong and depraved life and was abandoned by family. But I didn't kick the Lazarus at my gate. Yes! Lazarus is my twin brother. So he can take care of his brothers and family.’
Abraham replied, ‘they have Moses and the Prophets, let them listen to them’. ‘No, father Abraham’, he said, ‘but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent’. Abraham said to him, 'If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.'
And, Abraham replied. 'All property of you and your family will belong to the one who showed favor to Lazarus, that is, to your maidservant.'
'As everyone in your household knows, the maidservant is Lazarus' daughter.'
All the family of the richman were feasting and drinking wine at the oldest brother's house.
Suddenly a mighty wind swept in from the desert and struck the four corners of the house. It collapsed on them and they were dead.
All the servants joined forces to serve the daughter of Lazarus as new master. - The end -
Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. Matthew 5:7
