RE: Understanding the Biology of Fear and Anxiety by Studying Worms
Everyone has suffered anxiety at some point in their life, but when it is too intense, it is necessary to have control over it, since the person suffering from it suffers greatly. This differentiates between pathological anxiety, which is the last case cited, and adaptive anxiety, which is what all people suffer in some episode of their life. The causes of anxiety depend largely on the characteristics of each person, but as a general normal, they are attributed to those aspects that create fear, stress and bewilderment. There are people who know how to control these emotions, however, in many cases and because it is an emotion, the person feels anguish and feel limited to try to deal with the problem.
@krnel says that when depression is very strong people tend to take psychiatric medications, and they are not looking for ways to overcome their anxiety themselves. The downside of psychiatric medications is that it is very addictive and then it is very difficult to leave ..
Yeah, drugs are only a relief for the symptoms, not the solution at the root causal level. Anxiety can make people feel unfit or unable to cope with finding a way out of that state. Drugs are an easy fix :/
