Fat Girl Fashion: Tips for Fall

in #fat8 years ago (edited)

Ladies, before you get angry, know that I've got more than enough weight on my bones to take this advice to heart. F-A-T is not a four-letter word. It doesn't have to be permanent either. Whether you're in the process of losing weight or you've embraced your bigger body shape, you still need clothes to wear.

Fall is quickly approaching, and I'm sharing a few tips for larger ladies that I've gleaned during my clothes shopping forays. I hope they're of some benefit. If I get enough likes, I'll make more Fat Girl Fashion posts. Otherwise, check out my Pinterest board, Short & Fat, for looks that work and other tips.

Fall Fat Fashion Tip #1

Aim for Ankle Boots

I know knee-high boots are hot as hell, but not when they're 40 inches around. I'm sorry ladies, but certain looks just do not look the best when they're super-sized, but that doesn't mean you have to go completely without. Bitchin' boots for big girls (especially short and stout girls like me) shouldn't rise anywhere near the knee.

Not only do the boots themselves look extra big, but they work against the illusions you can use to create a taller, more slender physique.

Just look at this sexy bitch right here:

Remember this ladies.

"When you're fat, ankles boots is where it's at."

Fall Fat Fashion Tip #2

Stick to Oversized Accessories

Oversized scarves, jewelry and bags are a boon to your style. That's especially true for big girls. Your accessories should be in proportion to your body size. A teeny tiny necklace is going to look extra teeny tiny on you. They draw attention to you instead of to themselves, and that's always a bad thing. Big jewelry doesn't have to be tacky either.

Look at this subtle ensemble:

Big hoops, big chains. You're not stuck wearing a bulky scarf, if that's not your thing, but scarves are BIG this season.

Fall Fat Fashion Tip #3

Hem in Those Hem Lines

What is the deal with sweaters, coats, ponchos, vests and other outer layers that are much shorter or longer than your shirt or dress? They may work for some waify hippy somewhere, but you are not that chic! On a big girl, these mistakes mess with your silhouette. Instead of looking sexy, we big girls wind up looking larger than we really are-- or worse, sloppy, a look that plays into stereotypes that overweight women are lazy. We ALLLLL know that's not true, so do the rest of us a favor and make sure your hemlines match.

Think you're the exception?

YOWZA! (With ankle boots, that would be a season favorite.)

I'm not a fashion expert, but I do have an eye for trends that work -- and those that don't. I know too there really are exceptions to every rule, and I hope I haven't hurt any feelings. Women of every size should feel secure in their beauty, and it matters much more what you do with your life than what you choose to wear. That said, I know my fashion choices are harder now that I'm overweight. These tips have worked for me. I hope they work for you!

What do YOU think are the best looks for big beauties this fall? Make sure to comment with your own advice. Thanks for stopping by!

Really nice post.
All I wanna mention here is do you own these images? If yes then its okay, otherwise please mention the sources from now on otherwise you may land in trouble for plagiarism by abuse team. As I can see you are new here you must have not know about this so I am not reporting this to anyone.

Good to see you here.

Good tip, mindfreak. I thought all the photos were linked to Pinterest, but it doesn't seem like they linked to the actual posts. I'll definitely fix that. Thanks!

This is a really cute post.

Everyone has to dress for their body type, whether thin or thick, nothing to get offended about I say :)

Thanks. :)
