Patek Philippe Nautilus 5976 vs Rolls Royce Dawn – Miami Lifestyle

This is my review of the white gold Patek Philippe Nautilus 5976 40th Anniversary Edition (reference 5976/1G) while driving a Rolls Royce Dawn through the streets of Miami, Florida!

The 5976 was released in the fall of 2016 to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Nautilus reference 3700 (in 1976), the first sports watch of the brand. In my opinion, it is probably one of the heaviest hitting pieces right now in the luxury watch space, and certainly in the Nautilus line.

By Patek Philippe's standards, it is a massive watch! With a 44 millimeter diameter, it is not the usual model from the brand. The total width of the watch is a whopping 49.25mm! What a beast!

Even though the watch feels heavy on the wrist and I'm not really into massive watches, I knew a lot of watch collectors that were yearning for a bigger Nautilus; certainly one larger than the 40.5mm Patek 5980 (which is also a very nice piece).

I think the watch it's amazing, definitely a keeper! The company limited the release to 1300 pieces, which has definitely caused the retail price of the price of the watch to more than double from its retail release of $93,000 (a price that I actually thought was too low upon release).

Right now, you can buy the 5976 for about $210,000 and I feel that it can soon fetch $250,000. Now that's a pretty good investment, if you were one of the lucky ones to snatch one up for $95,000 in 2016!

One of the cool things that I also like about the Patek Philippe Nautilus 5976 is the brown cork presentation box that comes with it. A throw-back of the original Nautilus box, I believe it adds a bit of pizzazz to the entire package.

The only thing that would have made the new 44-millimeter Nautilus 5976 release more stunning is if Patek released it in rose gold. But hey, maybe that would have cannibalized their entire sales of other Nautilus models! The 5976 also comes in a platinum version, reference 5711/1P.

As far as the Watch Game is concerned...no comment!
