Child abuse never expires emotionally, morally and religiously.
Where (sexual) abuse between adults is already unheard of, this is certainly the case when the abuse concerns children. After all, children are very vulnerable and influenceable and need to be extra protected in our society (hence the fact that the Rights of the Child have been called alive). When someone is abused as a child, this often has more personal consequences than when this happens to adults. From the idea that children belong to the group of vulnerable people in society, for whom Jesus came, and for whom the Church should also stand up, the protection of children is all the more an ethical imperative. For those who believe in God, child abuse never expires.
A Titanic full of children (Philippe Robrecht)
We all have too little time
we think a lot has changed,
but close to us a child loses the battle
obediently to the lies of another.
A life without coercion and without pain is
just a dream for many of us.
The sunlight can be pretty dark
for those who do not live with the right people.
We have not seen anything, we have not heard anything.
But on the other side, a childhood dream is being murdered.
Forgive us that there was no one for you.
Forgive us that no one has listened.
I hope you got rid of suspicion,
that you might find some light in the dark.
You have your own voice, so shout it loudly,
it is time that you get rid of powerlessness,
because silence does not help you step forward,
we know well that it takes a lot of effort.
We have not seen anything,
we have not heard anything.
But on the other side
, a childhood dream is being murdered.
See us here, shippers ashore,
powerless against dishonesty.
The innocence (Philippe Robrecht)
You do not believe it,
you do not understand
the human mind collapses.
You do not accept
anger and grief
you become rebellious and you get rid of hatred.
That can not be the fate
of a child without it.
There must be a God
who does not take this injustice anymore.
How do you tell your
own child
how a person does not know his image.
So unreal it
is becoming increasingly difficult
to say that the Devil does not exist.
You
do not touch the innocence of the children there.
If I could prevent it
, I would stand in the breach.
I scream for all children
that they may be children,
and that the great people may be
'people'.
... and that the big people can be
'people'.
