THE POWER TO LIVE ABOVE SIN 4
12 THEREFORE DO NOT LET SIN REIGN IN YOUR MORTAL BODY, THAT YOU SHOULD OBEY IT IN ITS LUSTS.
13 AND DO NOT PRESENT YOUR MEMBERS AS INSTRUMENTS OF UNRIGHTEOUSNESS TO SIN, BUT PRESENT YOURSELVES TO GOD AS BEING ALIVE FROM THE DEAD, AND YOUR MEMBERS AS INSTRUMENTS OF RIGHTEOUSNESS TO GOD. 14 FOR SIN SHALL NOT HAVE DOMINION OVER YOU, for you are not under law but under grace."
Romans 6:12–14 (NKJV)
III. The body or the outward Man
- The human body is referred to as the outward Man—earthly house or tent (2 Corinthians 5:1,4; 2 Peter 1:13).
READ: Romans 8:13; 1 Corinthians 9:27 - The flesh which is the body, always lusts against the spirit: "WHAT YOUR CORRUPT [human] NATURE WANTS IS CONTRARY TO WHAT YOUR SPIRITUAL NATURE WANTS, AND WHAT YOUR SPIRITUAL NATURE WANTS IS CONTRARY TO WHAT YOUR CORRUPT NATURE WANTS. THEY ARE OPPOSED TO EACH OTHER. AS A RESULT, YOU DON'T ALWAYS DO WHAT YOU INTEND TO DO" (Galatians 5:17 —GOD’S WORD Translation).
- This is the reason for the admonition given in Romans 12:1: "I BESEECH [urge] YOU THEREFORE, BRETHREN, BY THE MERCIES OF GOD, THAT YOU PRESENT YOUR BODIES A LIVING SACRIFICE, HOLY, ACCEPTABLE TO GOD, WHICH IS YOUR REASONABLE SERVICE."
- Believers are to present their bodies as a living sacrifice. Sacrifice means an act of offering something to God in propitiation or appeasement or homage.
- Your life had to be laid on the altar as a sacrifice for God, though you are still living physically, but in the real sense of the word, you would not be the one living, God, Jesus Christ, would be living through you: "INDEED, I HAVE BEEN CRUCIFIED WITH CHRIST. MY EGO IS NO LONGER CENTRAL. IT IS NO LONGER IMPORTANT THAT I APPEAR RIGHTEOUS BEFORE YOU OR HAVE YOUR GOOD OPINION, AND I AM NO LONGER DRIVEN TO IMPRESS GOD. CHRIST LIVES IN ME. THE LIFE YOU SEE ME LIVING IS NOT “MINE,” BUT IT IS LIVED BY FAITH IN THE SON OF GOD, WHO LOVED ME AND GAVE HIMSELF FOR ME" (Galatians 2:20 The Message).
- The crucifixion of the flesh or body is done through the denying of the flesh—whatever the flesh requires or demands for that is not in line with the written Word of God, the Bible, and the inclination or intuition from the Holy Spirit through the recreated human spirit on the inside.
- You mortify or put to death the body or flesh—you discipline the body and the appetites—by self-denial, without any gratification. You give not the flesh or body whatever it demands for: "SO PUT TO DEATH THE SINFUL, EARTHLY THINGS LURKING WITHIN YOU [your body]. HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH SEXUAL IMMORALITY, IMPURITY, LUST, AND EVIL DESIRES. DON'T BE GREEDY, FOR A GREEDY PERSON IS AN IDOLATER, WORSHIPING THE THINGS OF THIS WORLD" (Colossians 3:5 NLT).
• If your mind is renewed and subjected to your spirit, the inward Man; then the flesh, the body or outward Man, can be tamed or controlled.
- When your thoughts are transformed or changed, your body can then be subdued or mortified. The body would carry out or effect what the Will of someone is, and the dominant thought in the mind of the person.
- When your thought or thinking pattern is changed; your Will power or mental control, begins to change. If, however, your Will is strong and stubborn, God will allow unpalatable experiences to break it.
- If you always experienced sufferings or difficulties, as a believer in Christ Jesus, It could be that you have a strong Will; you are not pliable or bendable, or you do not always comply or agree with the leadings of the Holy Spirit on the inside of you. Even when you knew the right thing!
- God uses hardships or sufferings to break a believer who had a strong Will; who is egoistic and full of the self.
- It is when God started breaking the Will of a proud or egoistic believer that he or she would begin to embrace and be enthusiastic about God's Will, plan, or the instructions He gives to him or her.
- Your cooperation with the Holy Spirit, through the Word of God, would give you speed in your spiritual development—your change or transformation character-wise.
a. Your Will would be submissive to God's Will, and your mind would be renewed, and your emotion becomes enthusiastic about whatever the Will or plan of God is.
b. Things of God become your priority, and God and His Kingdom become your focus. You only desire what God wants, and His Will becomes your Will. - This level or stage of spiritual development or growth had to be kept or sustained in your walk with God—you keep developing your fellowship or communion with Him.
- You should not stop, otherwise, the human nature; the flesh, would want to take over again.
- What is shared in this piece is God's plan or Will; His pattern of living for every believer in Christ Jesus!
• You will not fail in Jesus' name.
- Should there be any ailment in your body, receive your healing now in Jesus' mighty name.
- The hold is broken and never would it be formed and risen again in Jesus' mighty name.
Peace!
