Facebook may face 20 years of privacy oversight by FTC
Facebook could be facing a couple of decades of oversight by the FTC.
In reported settlement talks, the company could agree to the oversight after breaking a 2011 agreement to only release users data with permission. The company claims it did not break the agreement.
Facebook has reportedly set aside $3 billion to cover the expenses related to this. Estimates are that the fine could go as high as $5 billion. This would be the largest fine of a United States tech company.
One of Facebook's co-founders says that the social media giant needs to be broken up.
