Vlog 377: Re-evaluation of the blockchain from top to bottom.
Yesterday @soyrosa asked me what I'm going to do moving forward.
One of the things I'm going to do is re-evaluate everything about this blockchain.
The reason I feel I can do this now is because I'm not afraid anymore.
This blockchain is either going to make it and succeed big time or it's going to shit.
There is no middle ground.
I have simply been walking around with Rose-tinted glasses for too long spouting the gospel of SMT's based on promises.
I had a huge personal reality check.
I am done with hearing what's going to come out, how great things and people are and all that.
I'm going to judge on what people do right now and their actions and results to improve this chain when they happen, not before.
Starting with Steem inc.
My confidence in them is at rock bottom. It will have to be rebuild from scratch.

Right now it's just talk. It can't be evaluated until it's implemented. When it works and does as advertised. Fantastic, a little confidence restored. And I'm hoping to see a lot more of that.
Other things I'm going to evaluate in upcoming weeks/months is witnesses. Who really does what. Who is an asset to the blockchain, who is a taker and who deserves to be higher on the list.

This kind of no nonsense attitude is exactly what we need right now. I agree that some sort of a witness audit would be wise as well. Go @exyle! What we have here is too valuable to let wither away and die.

Possibly your most important post ever. Pure gold, at a time like this. I'm also sick of flipping promises and "community spirit" talk. Action and communication is what's required, given the morbid severity of the situation... And NOW!

Also might I add that your proposed "witness evaluation" is absolute genius. So many of us don't actually know of what many of them bring to the table for "our" blockchain. Calling certain individuals out for not pulling their weight for us all, especially at a time like this, is music to my ears.

You brought up a very good point @exyle about not being afraid to speak your mind. A lot of people are afraid to step on someone else's toes in fear of a whale or someone powerful getting revenge. As a result, people become mellow and don't want to voice their thoughts completely out of fear.
People need to step up; especially at a time like this. If we don't see good results, people should be held accountable and called out. I urge everyone to do the best they can to not get caught up in hope and circlejerking. Instead, we as a community need to get together and confront those that don't mean what they say or say what they mean. This could be Steemit Inc., certain witnesses, other content creators, etc.
This is an opportunity for us that want steem to succeed to get stronger, while at the same time weed out the freeloaders.

Fair enough. I was also uninspired by the live chat, and it's pretty disappointing that SMT is likely to be majorly delayed.
Probably the most important 6 months/year is in front of us now.
Yeah, we need you upbeat, where else will I go for my motivation otherwise :)

You know @exyle, it might seem that you are setting yourself up for conflict, for political suicide so to speak, but it might be the opposite. In other words, you speaking your mind like this shows to the community you care, and thus wins you social leverage.
For what it's worth, you got my full support with this new direction...

Great approach as execution is so difficult when moral is low which is what I can imagine is happening at Steemit Inc. This is the opportunity we have to truly decentralize the ecosystem and that begins with witnesses. I still have a good number of votes available as I review them frequently and adjust. Look forward to finding new witnesses that can add value to the community!
