How and where would you dispense $10,000; $100,000; $1,000,000: $10,000,000 to have maximum impact?
This is a platitude question that I usually asked my cousins. They have different answers but the same goal. For example, one planned to recharge the King's Glory game; another wanted to buy a house for her parents. For them, the present pleasure may be the maximum impact. In fact, it suits many of us. However, an old couple gave me an unordinary answer.
They will donate all the million dollars to the university to fund the students. It is venerable that, unlike our "dreamers", the old couple do have a million dollars, and indeed donated all of them. Nevertheless, their one million dollars is really hard to come by. They lived a frugal life, living in a rented house in an old neighborhood and wearing a pair of "old Beijing" cotton shoes. Although they have been teaching staff for decades, they have never even bought a house for themselves.
For them, students can create more value and immerse in research without concerning for research funding. And I think that this applies to our Philly History Project’s situation, too. I’m glad that our final decision is to build to the Wagner Free Institute of Science to continue the Temple-Wagner Fellowship. This fits in with our original intention. I hope that the students in this project will be able to show their perfect aspects, which will not waste our efforts.
