100 years of Significant change has shaped the world around us today. It can be debated however the facts show that the last 100 hundred years have had the most significant increase in technology, and population growth. It is quite eye opening to think about the advances made in science in the past 100 years. Various technologies created as a direct result of World War I influence our lives today. Nearly half of American households had electric power by 1925. Many people began to dream of what the future could have in store for them. Transportation was one of the areas which drew many people’s attention. In 1914 Ford Motor Company created the first moving assembly line. This new technology/ strategy would allow Ford Motor Company to produce approximately 300,000 in a single year. 100 years of Significant change has shaped the world around us today. This technology would be pushed further, to allow the United States and its Allies to win multiple World Wars. Air travel also grasped the addition of millions. Aircraft technology made bound and leaps during World War I. Mail and passengers were now being transported by an almost unthinkable concept to many. Philadelphia would be the resting ground for many of the first Washington D.C. to New York City Mail Flights. These fast improvements to technology helped many people’s imaginations flourish. In 1882, Albert Robida created artwork showing cars flying in the air. While completely fictional at the time, it showed that the imaginary is possible. Many scientists made significant advances in various fields of study. One of these fields was in the study of global warming.
In 1917, Alexander Graham Bell gave a speech addressing the use of coal and oil. He stated that we can use these reservoirs, however we can never refill them. Bell would go on to explain the unlimited power that hydro power and the sun could offer. It is quite interesting to see the process of development in the last 100 hundred years. Advances in technology have allowed us to explore our universe. These advances also played a vital role in creating new medicines, and technologies that have saved millions of lives. What are some examples of technology that you have become dependent on? How do you think that these technologies will advance in the next 100 years?
