Ethereum Classic Hourglass Games: Scam? Ponzi? Game? Investment?
Are Ethereum Classic Hourglass Games Scams?
They can be.
Hourglass games are based off of smart contracts. Some of these games are scams. One way the scams work is they create a site, and offer a "new opportunity" then they invest some money in, and wait for other investors to invest money. Once the other investors are in, they pull their money out, and boom, a quick buck. Sometimes the scam is more elaborate with many addresses buying in making it look "real" but the addresses all somehow link to the same network.
So yes, these games, can be set up like a scam.
But NO, the games themselves aren't scams. They are games. You learn the rules, you play, and, if you do your research right, HODL just long enough, and have a clear goal of what you are doing, you win.
Are these hourglass games ponzi schemes?
They are half of a ponzi scheme. In a ponzi scheme, investors only make money when new investors come in. In these hourglass games, investors do make money when new investors come in. However, they also earn money, when investors already playing take their money out.
New investors can make money off of earlier investors selling off. That is what makes these games "hourglass" type games, and not "Pyramid Schemes."
The contracts themselves can be audited and looked at, but the strength of the project has to do with the community and the developers
Basically, "anyone" can steal a code. "Anyone" does not include me, but I've been watching long enough to know that code stealing is a learnable skill. Not everyone can take a code, and turn it into its own community.
Today, the Ethereum Classic Hourglass Games had this little issue to deal with
It turns out the ETV Dev Team doesn't want any P3D clones to be shared on their discord server. Oh no, what do we do?
If you are the P3C Team You don't really do anything about it
You remind the people on your team to advertise where you are wanted, and then you continue with your work.
P3C continues to grow and now has 5,292 ETC in their contract, up from yesterday's 5155 ETC. Their discord invite contest is going great, and there seems to be steady growth of community, projects coming, and ETC. If you want to buy a single one of their tokens, the prices is 0.17 USD.
