Benefits of Daytime Sleep
If you think napping is only beneficial for babies, children, elderly, or sick people, then you should think again. There are various benefits of nap that are believed to affect the body positively in adults. Among others are:
Relaxation. Reduces fatigue. Increases concentration and alertness. Improves mood. Improves memory, performance, including faster reaction, suppresses possible accidents, errors, and confusion. Other studies have shown that the benefits of napping are also felt in the night shift workers.
A study was conducted to compare three ways to overcome fatigue during the day, by adding hours of sleep to the night, by napping, and by consuming caffeine. Apparently, napping is the most effective way and has the same effect with caffeine consumption.
As work builds up, our brains and bodies need rest to restore energy and concentration. It would be nice if you take the time to take a nap in the middle of business hours. Get rid of the thought that people will call you the slacker.
Spaniards and Mexicans have a tradition of rest for 15-30 minutes or for three hours after lunch. They would close their shop from two in the afternoon until five in the afternoon just for a nap. Today many other countries have realized the benefits of sleeping during the day.
