Useful koksi beetles
Hello steemit lovers
Lady bird or lady bug is one type of insect that belongs to the order Coleoptera, it is one type of insect that is very easy to recognize, in this case he is very familiar with body shape and color and pattern on its wings.
For Indonesian citizens who know this insect as a Kepik, but most people know the koksi beetle as a ladybug beetle, another beetle in the Aceh region is called Mirah Seureungat. The experts concluded that he was not from the Ladybug or Hemiptera Order, this was due to his size and hard shield.
The shape and size
This Koksi beetle is the smallest beetle when compared to other beetles in general. The mini size is sometimes invisible to the human eye, but because of its striking color, people glance at it.
Its small size is one of the interesting things about it if measured to have 7 to 8 mm in body, but even though it is small, there is a big influence on its presence in their area because it will always eat the aphids which cause damage to plants.
In general, he often hung out on every plant, but what is often found in one of the pepper trees is influenced by the presence of pests such as plant lice, he will always eat the fleas that are nearby.
He is not a pest
In Indonesia, especially around the 90s, farmers claimed that they were plant pests that were often found in rice plants, but after agricultural engineers made a study about it, the results said that Beetle Cookies are not plant pests, in fact the opposite happened that koksi beetles repel pests found in plants such as aphids and other pests, which are a type of tick.
The existing koksi beetle plant will certainly be safe from pests such as aphids because the koksi beetle will always eat it, so that its presence will automatically prevent plant pests cultivated by farmers.
How to breed
How to breed koksi beetle is almost the same as other types of insects as well in general, he will mate with other koksi beetles that have different motives and patterns found on their wings.
In general, they will lay as many as 50 eggs or more which are produced each mating season. Then he will lay his eggs on leaves that have lots of aphids, this is done intentionally because when the eggs hatch they will immediately get food that is nearby namely aphids.
Egg shape
The koksi beetle eggs are oval in shape and sometimes orange in color, the chosen leaves are as mentioned before and will hatch around 4 and sometimes even 7 days depending on the temperature of the region, if the air is hot it will hatch within 3 days.
When after hatching it looks like a larva that is ready to eat food such as aphids, then it is said that the koksi beetle is not a pest to plants and even the opposite occurs.
Thus a simple description of the koksi beetle, may be useful for all of us. Thank you very much.
