STYROFOAM which has been considered as the main factor of environmental pollution, apparently has many positive sides for humans. Although considered very difficult to decompose and become the main cause of floods, but in fact the biased mind is broken if they are able to manage it properly and properly.

In addition Styrofoam is also considered dangerous when used as a food container. Polystyrene foam is considered harmful to the environment because of the content contained therein.
In response, PT Kemasan Cipta Utama conducted a factory visit on Wednesday (2/5/2018) to educate the public that Styrofoam is actually harmless and very environmentally friendly.

Lecturer of Institut Pertanian Bogor (ITB) and also experts from LAPI ITB, Ir.Akhmad Zainal Abidin, M.SC, Ph. D, has a positive view of General Purpose Polystyrene (GPPS). He considered the packaging of foods made of plastic and polystyrene can be recycled into various other products.
For polystyrene alone, the bias is broken down and re-made into a new product. All polystyrene waste can be used optimally to create new products that are functional and economically valuable.
Several other facts were revealed about the foam polisterine. Zainal claimed 95% of the PS Foam packaging is air. PS Foam packaging production requires less energy and is considered safe when in direct contact with food.

"Polystyrene is an organic substance. The elements that make up polystyrene are carbon, oxygen and hydrogen. Because 95% consists of air contained therein, polystyrene does not sink and does not clog waterways, "explained Zainal.
"In addition, the amount of styrene (chemicals) present in food packaging made of polystyrene is 0-39 ppm (Part per million). This amount is equivalent to the content in cinnamon, beef, coffee beans, strawberries, nuts and flour, "he continued.
"Polystyrene that has become food packaging, contains only 10-43 ppm styrene. The amount is still within safe limits according to WHO and BPOM Indonesia standards. Styrene is as big as that contained in strawberries, coffee and cinnamon, "he finished.
