Bird of Paradise birds Male males today have feathers ornate tassels on the sides of their breasts that are purplish blue when viewed from below and reddish brown when viewed from above. On the chest there is a black oval circle with a red colored edge. At the tail there are two long black straps with rounded edges and blue. The female bird is smaller in size, without embellished reddish-brown feathers and lower body. This type of bird can be found in mountain forests in Papua New Guinea in the east and southeast, generally from a height of 1,400 meters to an altitude of 1,800 meters above sea level. This Blue Bird of Paradise is included in the species polygamy group. After marrying the female, the male bird leaves her female and starts looking for another partner. This male bird of paradise attracts his partner by means of rituals or dances that show off their decorative feathers. This male Blue Bird of Paradise performs his dance which is not in his group to lure his partner like other birds of paradise. This blue bird of paradise consumes food consisting of fruits and various other insects. As a result of the ever-decreasing habitat of this bird of paradise, this bird of paradise has entered the category of rare birds and is protected by law in Papua New Guinea.
