Essay: Starting School with a Children's Story
Starting School with a Children’s Story
The year after I graduated high school I started off by making some money with my dad. After some work I decided to start off towards college. Firstly, I have to get some classes and prerequisites to get into the program I want. One of the classes I am redoing from high school is English. On the first day of English class it is a good idea to begin by reading a children’s story as we did. It is a good exercise to get reading and thinking about the meaning and elements of a story.
It’s good to read a story and talk about it as a class. Everyones input on the story makes it easier to understand. Every person’s thoughts on the story are different. As long as the story has a bountiful variety of literary elements to talk about, then it’s a good story for an introduction to the English class. The genre of the story, whether it be a children’s story or a horror story or anything else, does not matter. When the story is written so conflict and themes aren’t obvious it makes students think about elements without knowing it immediately. A children’s story is usually easy to read and understand. When it’s simple to understand, it’s an ease to write about.
Studying a children’s story to begin the class of English literature proved effective. As a group effort, all people understood the overall meaning of the story. The content was simple but it required some brainwork to figure out meanings. Although the story is labeled a children’s story it doesn’t mean only children can read it. Children’s books may seem like writing that’s too easy to read or not meant for older people. Just give the piece of writing a chance because they contain meanings that anyone can learn from.
