Introduction

We are EOS block producer candidates and we will have quite a lot of responsibilities.

1/ Technical:

  • Creating blocks
  • File hosting
  • Back-up servers
  • Full seed node

2/ Governance:

  • Follow the constitution
  • Account freezing, misbehaving contracts
  • Take-down notices of files
  • Hard and soft forks, fees (account creation), parameters (blocksize, rate-limited capacity)

3/ Leadership:

  • Block producers are like a traditional company, keeping everything internal in control
  • Communication with other block producers
  • Campaign to get elected as a BP

Possible extra services:
Account recovery, account creation, oracles, price feeds, and dispute resolution services.

Running a BP will be much more than just running a server that creates the blocks. One person might be able to handle everything in the beginning, but when the ecosystem grows, this will require a dedicated team.

Hardware specs (initial specification)

We are currently reviewing dedicated hardware we planning to have at launch. We are planning to have multiple locations in Eastern EU and Ukraine.

Block producers:

We are planning to initially have a primary and two backup machines as main producing units. We are considering Intel LGA 2011 socket CPU line for the backup and LGA 3647 socket as the primary with DDR4 2666MHz RAM. However, there is not enough data about what kind of RAM is required and therefore we still considering DDR3 1866MHz as an alternative. We are also looking for more effective ways of power supplies to minimize the loses.
Our hardware spec listed below is subject to change based on Block. One and community recommendation:

  • RAM: 1-4 TB
  • CPU cores: 32+ (however one 1 core CPU is required at the launch)
  • Storage Disk Space 20 TB+
  • Nodes: 2 + 2 standby

We are also considering to run on the of producers on the AMD Epyc platform.

Full node:

We will be running a minimum of two full nodes in different locations.

Load balancer:

The Load Balancing IP will be used to spreads traffic load across the IPs of your main nodes hosted in different locations. It will improve performance during traffic spikes, tolerance in the event of failures and optimises response times.

Storage (ipfs):

We will prepare two additional units to be optimised for storage. However the requirements for storage are not yet defined therefore we are not considering this as a critical part of the project for EOS launch.

Scaling

We are planning to allocate substantial part of block rewards towards infrastructure scaling. We know that it will be a competitive space however we believe that our community want to have the most advance blockchain system in the world and this require investment.

Co-location

Currently we have secured a total of three locations for our nodes and we planning to have additional two locations to keep the operation as much decentralised as possible. We believe that to build truly decentralised system we need to be highly distributed. We are also preparing for the worst, we know that we will have to defend against sustained network attacks, that is why we are going to be distributed and we will allow for quickly server relocation to other regions and networks if required. We are considering low latency sites and will finalise our choice based on latency tests.

Support for community initiatives

We are highly active in multiple telegram groups – always willing to help and learn. Our main goal is to share what we know with the community to grow the ecosystem as much as we can.
If you want to ask us a question or discuss some issues, ideas please join the telegram group:

or

We are considering allocating block rewards back to community for Dapp incubation, education and advocacy.

Our mission

As we are EOS Green we believe that the future of blockchain is in renewable and sustainable energy. We have to invest in green infrastructure as early as possible to accommodate the required power generation when EOS ecosystem will scale to enterprise sizes. We want to take care about our environment and health of our planet and we think that this is a challenge that every block producer should take seriously.
