Sending OPEN.EOS from BitShares to your EOS Main Net Account
Recently @eosnewyork put the word out to dAPP producers that they should really consider share dropping on all EOS accounts and not just the ones that are in the genesis snapshot. EOS New York created a tool for capturing the current EOS accounts called https://www.eossnapshots.io/ Here is an article which goes more in depth https://medium.com/eos-new-york/snapshots-as-a-service-airdrops-for-all-2bd51548b1ac
I have OPEN.EOS in My BitShares account as well as EOS in my main net account. Given this new information that air drops will be potentially honoring the tokens I add to my main net account I thought it would be a good time to start sending the OPEN.EOS there. If you don't know what OPEN.EOS is, that is essentially a poker chip style marker that is backed with real EOS by the company Open Ledger, There are many tokens that are traded on Bitshares this way in order to solve the problem of different block chains being able to talk to each other. Open Ledger offers what is called a "Gateway" which allows you to send and receive many tokens that are not native to the Bitshares exchange. If you have been following EOS you probably know by now that Dan Larimer, inventor of EOS also invented Bitshares as well as Steemit.
IF you don't already have a BitShares account you can use my life time member referral link to sign up for a free account here: https://wallet.bitshares.org/?r=dan-schaeffer
If you need any help navigating the Bitshares Platform there is an online community in Discord to assist you here https://discord.gg/JryfHrV
If you already have a Bitshares account and are familiar with OPEN assets then you just need to move them. Here is the biggest call out.
DO NOT USE SEND!!!!!
This will only send assets to another Bitshares account.
You need to use the Withdraw option from the main menu.
From there choose Open Ledger as your Gateway and toggle the Deposit/Withdraw tab to Withdraw.
Use the drop down menu to select the OPEN-EOS asset.
This will pull up the info for your current OPEN.EOS holdings.
Click the Withdraw Now button which will open a dialog box where you will enter the details for your transaction.
Select the amount of EOS that you want to send.
Keep in mind that you must have some BTS (Bitshares tokens) to cover the transaction fee.
ALSO BE AWARE THAT Open Ledger charges 0.7 EOS to move the asset from BitShares.
Next add your EOS main net account name. This is the 12 letter name you were given when the Block Chain launched. If you don't know your account name you can look it up here https://eosauthority.com/account
Hit send and that's it!
What happens now is that the transaction is sent to Open Ledger, who will in turn send actual EOS to your destination. This is where the gateway function happens since EOS is not a native token on the Bitshares exchange.
You can check on your transaction by using http://cryptofresh.com/ and looking up your BTS account name.
You can also check that the transfer went to your main net account by using this link and adding your unique account name at the end:
https://eospark.com/MainNet/account/YOURACCOUNTNAME
If something goes wrong and you don't see your tokens come through don't panic! There is a record of the transaction and you can contact Open Ledger support via this link https://openledger.freshdesk.com/support/home
I did a test of 2 OPEN.EOS to make sure it all worked. I suggest that you test sending a small amount as well at first.
Finally. If you do not have an EOS account on the main net you can follow these instructions

GO EOS!
Just a quick update to this post. There is a withdraw limit of 500 OPEN.EOS per day through the Open Ledger Gateway.
ALSO, the gateway seems to be "Under Maintenance" quite often so plan accordingly.
Congratulations @ironmonkeeeee! You received a personal award!
