User nutela replies that it would work the same way, but the bigger stake you’d have the less the effect you’d have on a single entity would you have voted on that entity before. Thomas Cox asks what this is attempting to accomplish. User nutela says that the point is to mitigate the circle jerk problem on Steem so you’d be disincentivizing voting on the same accounts or BP’s if you’d have say 100x more stake than the median. User Thomas Cox says that he would like to better understand the phenomenon before diving further into fixes. Thomas Cox wonders what the so-called "circle jerk" is exactly and why it is bad. User Todor asks nutela how does it solve the problem of large stakes controlling the chain? User nutela says that having less voting power on the same BP’s is probably a good thing. User Todor says that it will also make it harder to keep voting for a good BP. For this to be good, we need an infinite supply of good BPs on the market. User Thomas Cox asks: “Is the challenge ‘voting for the same BPs over and over’ or is the challenge ‘the same BPs are in power all the time’?” User nutela says that it depends on if you have like 100x more stake than the rest. If you have 100x more stake than the average it’s logical that you control the market.
User nutela says that any legal personnel like lawyers and judges swear an oath to the state and thus can never be favorable outside their reach. Even if they act with good intentions, they’ll very likely not know all the details. User Sun Tzu replies as follows: “The current practice of ECAF is that we don't appoint any lawyers who are currently with a Bar (court) to the position of Arbitrator. There is some grey area where lawyers are not currently practising or called to the Bar, which is analysed on a case by case basis.
In practise, we prefer - which is our judgement call - people of the right judgement and integrity from our own community, and we try to help them become good Arbitrators with training and so forth; our philosophy is that it is easier to bring forward good community and blockchain people to dispute resolution skills than it is to bring practising lawyers to blockchain community. This is however highly controversial!”
