Photos: At $70,000 a month, feeding animals at the Audubon Institute proves challenging during COVID-19
Feeding 15,000 animals a month can be challenging in the best of circumstances. Because of the economic fallout from the coronavirus pandemic, the Audubon Nature Institute estimates a roughly 80 percent decrease in attendance this year.
Interesting article and photos about the challenges of feeding animals in zoos during the shutdown. It makes sense, there's no money coming in right now for a lot of these zoos, so I'd imagine that they're looking all over to find revenue. I wonder how much of teh food that zoo animals eat is grown on the property, maybe this will force them to look into a more self sustainable model.....
