Captain's log 00003
I am working on starting up a business. Its really early in the game so I am keeping a journal to document the experience, and also to give myself some accountability.
And I want to document the experience here on steemit for the following reasons: 1) With Blockchain technology, the words will never be lost. 2) It can be shared and 3) Maybe it'll help others or reach some who can help me during this process.
For those that are curious as to what type of business it is... it's a niche retail store. Soon I will post a portion of the business plan and provide a link to it.
If you choose to follow along you'll see what type of niche it is. I'm not hiding it by any means... but like I said it's a niche, which by definition means the type of store wont appeal to most people. I want the focus of this blog to be the journey of entrepreneurship itself.
I have been successfully self-employed for 10 years as a delivery driver, but that's a sole proprietorship with only me, myself and I. This project is by far the biggest I've ever jumped into head first. Complete with 2 business partners and a team of at least a dozen eager supporters. My main business partner and I have no capital, a little spare time and job flexibility, and a ton of passion for the project. We'll see how it goes, wish us luck!
What I accomplished today, 1/20/18
- Found an accountant that I like and spoke to him briefly about rates for bookkeeping. He recommended an attorney that can help me set up the actual S Corp. Called that attorney and had to leave a voicemail.
- Found the e-mail addresses of the realtors listed the retail spots I found along mechanicsville tpke. My favorite one within walking distance of my house is actually just as expensive as the one my business partner found, but way smaller. So the decision is easy.
- Heard back from another possible supplier. He said they don't have a wholesale program in place atm, and that I need to look over his website and put together an order. Frankly I'm not impressed by this response. He even mentioned that most of his discounts are on older items. My thoughts are: If you don't offer some customer service to help me save time , why won't I just go to the same people you buy these items from for more of a discount?
That is EXACTLY what you should do... sounds like you're talking to a retailer.
I agree
Just do this.
