Attraction News - Week 05, 2020 - Bellewaerde Coaster, Walibi Holland, Disney Closure & much more

New information about the Family Coaster at Bellewaerde

Bellewaerde has published the final name for the new family roller coaster on their Instagram account. It will be called "Wakala". But in an article from looopings.nl we get more details. Matching the Canada area of the park, the name refers to an old legend of the Canadian Indians.
Matching artwork was also published in the article. Station buildings, Q-Line and other areas around the roller coaster will contain references and objects from the Indian era. The fact that Bellewaerde is able to do good theme designs has already been proven with Huracan in 2013. Therefore, we can be quite curious here.
The opening should take place in spring. From then on, you can experience the 50kph fast roller coaster, which reaches a capacity of up to 1000 people per hour with three trains for 20 people each. The minimum size for passengers is set at one meter in height.
La Mer de Sable teases Family Coaster

On the Facebook presence of La Meer De Sable, since mid-January small teasers for a new attraction 2020 were shown. With the latest teaser from January 29th, it is now clear that it is about a family roller coaster. Designed as a mine train, it is still unclear which type it will be exactly. Speculations go in the direction of Vekoma's Family Boomerang. However, this is unconfirmed so far.
Walibi Holland renovates Speed Zone

On the official Facebook page, Walibi Holland gives us a preview of the renovation work in the Speed Zone. This includes new design elements in the areas around the Freefall Tower, Enterprise, Goliath and the game stands. Some of the artwork is shared, intended to set the mood for the redesign and they would like to be ready in time for the start of the season on April 4th.
Extensive renovation on Coaster Express

According to looopings.nl, Parque Warner Madrids Wooden Rollercoaster is currently undergoing extensive renovations and retracking. The wooden roller coaster was already been worked over in smaller sections over the last years. This time, however, it seems to affect a very large part of the roller coaster.
Tornado by Wisdom Rides for Knoebels

According to a message from Screamscape.com, Wisdom Rides is delivering a tornado to Knoebels. Apparently, they want to open the ride already in April for the start of the season. At the same time, with reference to a source that can no longer be reached, at least from Germany, the website reports that the magic carpet ride "1001 Nacht" will have to make way for the new ride.
Track closure at Kings Island
As "visitkingsisland.com" reported, on January 30th the track on Orion, the new Giga- Coaster in Kings Island Park was completed. The new roller coaster is scheduled to open on April 11th.
Hong Kong Disney closed aswell

Last week we had the news that Disney has closed the resort in Shanghai as a precautionary measure due to the dangers of the Corona virus. Now this also affects the resort in Hong Kong. Unlike in Shanghai, the hotels here stay open and only the theme park itself is affected by the closure.
