Why does it make us want to sleep when it rains?
Good afternoon steemian, today I come to talk about a subject that I'm sure we all agree, when it rains we want to sleep, you also happens to you, it happens to me all the time.
It has been raining for several days, here in Venezuela we are on a winter date which started the rains and with this we begin our desire to sleep much more.
Of course there is no scientific study which confirms this but ALL human beings have the same conclusion that rain gives us the desire to sleep immensely.
When we realize that it starts to rain and the sky gets quite cloudy this generates us in a certain sense a sense of tranquility which then slowly gives the sensation of sleep this is something very normal.
Let's talk a little about the reasons why this happens in our body.
1.- Melatonin.
You will say "What is that?", Because melatonin is the hormone which is responsible for our sleep, when there is a radiant day the sun is responsible for stop producing this hormone and activate our body.
When it rains and everything is cloudy, our body does not fully activate what melatonin activates and makes us sleepy.
2.-Its sound.
There are very few people who are bothered by the sound produced by the rain, personally that sound gives me a certain peace and tranquility, we can say that that sound is somewhat sleepy when listening to the drops fall on the roof or window, having a volume lower than other usual noises in our day to day happens that our brain activity decreases improving our quality of sleep.
3.-Its smell.
After it finishes raining is that smell so characteristic of wet earth, likewise an odor that for me is quite pleasant and relaxing because I feel that it is a quite natural aroma because it is the mixture of water and the oils of the trees.
Did you know?; the rain allows us to smell ozone, but what is that? It is the molecule that can be compared to the smell of clean clothes or chlorine. And to be honest we all love the smell of clean clothes.
We already know the reasons why rain causes our body to sleep.
It is the moment in which we want to stop doing all our daily obligations to sleep for a while, although sometimes we can not do that, enjoy the rain, its refreshing smell and its soothing sound, remembering that the rain allows plants and trees to reverberate.
