Writing??? Me??
Sitting quite comfortably on my cot, I'm writing this very blog on steemit dear friends. Looking back at my older days never fails to reward some nostalgic feelings. Today I just went through my diary book that was written back in 2016. I was noob at numerous things despite having a graduation degree. I really wanted to learn something desperately. I wanted to project myself as a knowledgeable person infront of ithers. While growing up as child, Many things including financial limitations had barred the growth of a potential future leader, that is me! Lol.
So, suddenly in a fine morning I started to act. Very first thing I wanted to do was to improve my pathetic level in English. A great influencer working in the realm of personality development had made a loud speech on how to develop our level in the world language on YouTube. I happened to watch that video and was inspired to the core. So I started to indulge in the things he had asked to... I inculcated following habits into my life .
Read English newspapers even though I understood nothing.
Find the exact meaning of any foreign words I come across by the help of a dictionary.
Writing diary everyday even as I got no satisfaction while doing so.
Trying to dream in English since I had no way to use this language in day to day conversations as this act was mocked at!
Yes.. I did this all for hours in the hope of improving my authority in this language. Look at this diary page that I wrote back in 2016. How ridiculous it is. Isn't it?
Even today I struggle a lot to cope with the basics of this language. But I'm very sure at one thing that I have travelled a long way since where I was. As I had mentioned in my many previous posts, Quora played a big role in that journey. In Quora, I find it easy to comprehend and difficult to produce. I'm so thankful to steem blockchain. I can use Steemit for the purpose of learning English but still I think It lacks something important. Yes it is that conventional way of learning.
nowadays I hardly get any time to read something offline and note down the usage of those words. It's high time I should give more attention to learn the language offline!
Bro! I feel excited when reading your post, mainly due to English words. Even from this post I nearly searched google translate for more than 8-12 times to search meaning for words. But, you still saying you was poor. A big comedy 😂
Not a comedy brother. I can convey anything in English through my writing. But again, it is far from perfection and at times fails to express the exact emotions. What would you say when you read the posts of likes of @tarazkp? I'm just a dust here!
I think steemit is really a boon for native English speakers. It's demographic map in alexa.com tells that story!
I too agree with you bro I feel excited when I also read this post the English words are so rich
You write well and I talk about your hard work to my family.
I talk about you in my family as well. Both my siblings have already joined steemit but they struggle a lot due to their not-so-good English.
I keep telling members in IU to write posts in their own language. The spanish, Koreans are all doing it. why not us? do encourage them to write in whichever language they like.
But what about audience? ocd, Curie, steemSTEM... All those communities support posts in English or those having English translation in them. Even to engage with the community, English is inevitable. Only way is they should try to learn English! I hope they will @angelsankar&@santhoshsankar
I am sure, they will. Please tell them to watch English news on all days
Haha... Next to impossible! They never watch anything apart from Tamil and Malayalam channels. That too only movies and music! Let me see what I can do! thank you for taking time and registering your opinions.
welcome
