At least one person was killed and seven injured when a technical failure occurred in an attraction on the first day of the Ohio State Fair, firefighters from the city of Columbus reported on July 26.

An 18 year old person died when falling from a height of more than 10 meters after the attraction separated from the main one.

Five of the wounded this Wednesday were in a very serious situation, while two persons were stable.

"I am terribly saddened by the accident and the loss of a life and the people who were injured while enjoying the fair," Ohio Gov. John Kasich said in a statement. He has ordered an investigation of the incident and stated that all the attractions of the fair were closed.
