Google blocks your apps on unlicensed Android phones
Hello friends of steemit I hope you are well today I bring you an Android news I hope you like it
If you have an uncertified Android phone, you may start having problems using Google applications very soon. This has happened to some users, who indicate that Google has begun to block their applications on certain Android devices that have not paid the "canon" to Google to certify the operating system.
We must remember that although Android is an Open Source system, if you want to use Google's software you have to go through the box; It is the way to monetize your SO for this company. There are manufacturers who prefer not to do so, sell their phones with Android without certification and allow the user to install Google Apps through other sources.
Because Android is an open source project, manufacturers are allowed to modify the software at will. Even so, manufacturers must comply with a set of standards in order to use Google services, such as the Play Store or other applications integrated in the community-abbreviated package such as GApps. The manufacturers that comply with the standards, will be able to pass the compatibility test or CTS of Google, which allows them to incorporate these services in their devices natively.
Until recently, devices that did not have this certification were allowed to use Google Apps, but apparently the company is knocking down this possibility, although its use in Custom Roms is still allowed.
According to an insider, Google started blocking GApps on March 16 this year, and it affects any unsigned firmware version compiled after this date. It seems that Google has been warning manufacturers for some time that this was going to happen, but still many have not seen their devices "blocked".
How to check if your mobile has been certified
One way to recognize if you have a certified Android phone or not is to check whether Google Play came preinstalled or not. If you did not, probably the brand has not paid Google to use Android, and that can lead to problems in the medium term. Other times you are warned that the device is not official when accessing the Apps store itself.
Another way to know if you have purchased a device certified by Google is to go to Settings> Phone Information> Certification. If it has not been, on the web to which you are forwarded this option will appear such a warning.
Finally, if you have Google Play, open this app. Then go to Settings and go down. Certification must appear in Certification of the Device.
What to do if your device has not been certified
If at any time during the purchase process you have been warned that your device did not come with Android certified by Google, you have the right to claim the money back. However, you can also ask the manufacturer to directly certify your mobile.
If you use a custom ROM, you have to enter your Android ID on this website to obtain Google certification manually
