Wood paint. @kharrazi documentation

Greetings, how are you steemit friends? Glad to meet you again and hopefully healthy always. Today I will be discussing again the world of construction, I have previously discussed painting work, especially the painting of concrete walls, but in today's discussion I will specially discuss the work of wood painting, but what distinguishes concrete wall paint and wood paint?

Actually, the main function of paint is to beautify a certain surface, but in other discussions, paint also serves to protect the wall and wood surface from weather or insect attack until a certain time limit, because it has the advantage to make the material more durable than the current almost all the surface of the wall and wood using paint.

Paint can be applied in a simple way, especially for wood paint, you can apply it almost on the entire surface of wood like furniture and so forth. You only need brush equipment and some containers that serve as a paint container, but in the larger-scale furniture industry it usually also requires an air compressor to facilitate a job.

Before we continue the discussion we should first know what is paint?

Paint

Paint is a type of dye that can also serve as a protector (especially on a particular job), paint can be used for almost any work such as construction work, art-work and so forth. Wood paint and wall paint often used in construction work, you just need to coat the surface of the material you want

Pigments in paint-work as a dye, there is also a type of paint that has no pigments and usually, this type of paint is used on wood surfaces and is called varnish, wood that has been coated with varnish will look more attractive because it displays the pattern of wood surface lines.

  1. To attach a paint on the surface of a material, you need a paint that has a main function and is called a "binder". Paint will fade by itself if a paint you use does not have binder function, the binder's own function is different on each type of paint, for example, you cannot use wall paint on the plastic surface.

  2. Paint will be difficult to apply if you use it directly without dissolving it first, usually, a paint that is not solubilized will only produce an uneven surface, you will find some spot paint that can ultimately damage the look. To produce an equally, and easy working surface you should dissolve it first. You can use different types of solvents such as thinner and other materials.

  3. As I mentioned above, that to produce color we need a pigment. Good pigments are also believed to protect the surface of the media well

  4. In some types of paint, additional materials are required to produce attractive paint surfaces and can protect the media longer, we call it addictive such as adding certain types of materials to give a glossy and waterproof impression.

All types of raw materials have different functions, such as epoxy binder type which means the paint uses epoxy type as adhesive. Similarly to the type of solvent, you can use oil or thinner as a paint solvent material, depending on what kind of paint you need to finish your work with maximum results.

I will give you a little advice so you can choose the type of wooden paint to suit your needs.

  1. You should decide what kind of furniture you will paint, you can split your furniture with some kind of like furniture that rarely shifts. The furniture that rarely shifts like a cupboard necessarily requires different paint with furniture that often shifts, like chairs. You just need a regular type of wood paint on the cabinet.

  2. Furniture that is outdoors or exposed to the sun directly would require a more durable paint type, I usually ask furniture owners to use heavy duty wood paint.

  3. You should also determine if your furniture wants to look natural or have a certain color. If you have quality wood I usually recommend that furniture owners use varnish and wood media will look more aesthetic.

  4. Choose the type of paint that is safe, we can not avoid the various threats of chemical toxins, but among these types of paints, you can still choose some kind of safer paint.

Well, once we know what is paint, then it's time we calculate the need for labor and materials needed to complete the wood type paint-work.

Calculate the required labor and materials

For example, we will calculate the labor and materials needed for the painting work of the cabinets/Wardrobe with a wood material, a total area of paint is 16 M2.

In accordance with the technical analysis unit of Indonesian National Standard, to complete the wood paint-work is required.

Labor

InformationCoefficient
Workers0.070 Persons Per day
Painter0.009 Persons per day
Foreman0.006 Persons per day
Overseer0.003 Persons per day

Material

InformationCoefficient
Belmas Zinc Chromate0.200 Kg
Putty0.150 Kg
Base paint0.170 Kg
Wood paint0.260 Kg
Paintbrush0.010 Units
Thinner0.030 Liter
Sandpaper0.200 Sheets

So to complete paint-work with 16 M2 area is required.

Labor

InformationCoefficientAmount
Workers0.070 Persons Per day x 16 m21.120 Persons per day
Painter0.009 Persons per day x 16 m20.144 Persons per day
Foreman0.006 Persons per day x 16 m20.096 Persons per day
Overseer0.003 Persons per day x 16 m20.048 Persons per day

Material

InformationCoefficientAmount
Belmas Zinc Chromate0.200 Kg x 16 m23.200 Kg
Putty0.150 Kg x 16 m22.400 Kg
Base paint0.170 Kg x 16 m22.720 Kg
Wood paint0.260 Kg x 16 m24.160 Kg
Paintbrush0.010 Units x 16 m20.160 Units
Thinner0.030 Liter x 16 m20.480 Liters
Sandpaper0.200 Sheets x 16 m23.200 Sheets

Conclusion

In construction work, paint is a kind of material that can be used as an aesthetic enhancer and also able to protect the media due to weather and other things that can damage the media.

In accordance with technological developments, nowadays paint has a variety of types, you can decide what type of paint you need to produce a maximum finish, all depending on what type of binder, pigment, and solvent you need.

To complete a wood paint-work with an area of 16 M2 is required.

Labor

InformationAmount
Workers1.120 Persons per day
Painter0.144 Persons per day
Foreman0.096 Persons per day
Overseer0.048 Persons per day

Material

InformationAmount
Belmas Zinc Chromate3.200 Kg
Putty2.400 Kg
Base paint2.720 Kg
Wood paint4.160 Kg
Paintbrush0.160 Units
Thinner0.480 Liters
Sandpaper3.200 Sheets

The above calculation is only an example and in accordance with the calculation of technical analysis of Indonesian National Standard, The calculation can be used by anyone and can adjust to a needs in a field.

I am happy to see that there are engineering related stuff here. So I'll be starting to post some of my projects then :)
That's an informative and helpful stuff sir @kharrazi! Thank you!

Big thank you also sir @kharrazi:)
Just followed you to make sure I'm updated with your crafts.

Looks like you're working on a project related to building painting or something?

This could serve as experience for the future

👌👌💪💪
Don't forget your present in my blog

Painting gives a beautiful view of things, as it keeps them from damaging them make them appear new, thank you my friend for this useful information @kharrazi

You're welcome :)

nice ,your post is very helpful for our people,

This post has received gratitude of 2.14 % from @appreciator thanks to: @kharrazi.

I can assist you. We'll have to wait and see what the future brings. In the post located at https://loonycraft.com/how-to-paint-watercolors-on-wood/, we studied the intriguing world of this unusual and versatile painting technique known as watercolor on wood. Watercolor can be used on wood as a canvas, as we've discussed, but it must be thoroughly prepared, including primed and sanded. You may create magnificent watercolor paintings on wood that you can lacquer to protect them by following our comprehensive instructions.
