Save thousands and conserve Energy by switching lightbulbs
We need to start taking an Ecocentric approach when it comes to our planet and conserving energy.
Taking an ecocentric approach basically means that the environment deserves moral consideration as a whole, and should not only specifically be catered to human or animal interests alone. It benefits us as humans while at the same time taking proper care and respecting the other living things around us in the ecosystem. While having this approach, it will make you consider the footprint that you're leaving on planet Earth. What kind of Earth will you leave for your kids, and their kids, and so on? We all deserve to have a sustainable planet, capable of hosting all living things equally.
Little changes can be made in your daily life to leave a smaller and smaller impact on the environment. These could be things such as using paper instead of plastic bags at the checkout grocery store, or disposing of trash more properly, buying and using hybrid energy cars that don't run on gasoline (although that's a more expensive change), not littering, taking consideration into not littering and preventing friends and others from littering. All of these things and more should provide a better outlook for each of our lives, knowing that the planet needs to remain sustainable for future generations.
The most sustainable approach for the planet, while having the most ecocentric outlook, is preservation. To preserve our natural resources, like as I mentioned before, having a car that relies on solar energy instead of gasoline, will be the most effective way to preserve and care for our planet.
By far the most important thing to be conserving is energy. Just by switching to CFL lightbulbs in your home could save you thousands in energy costs yearly.
By switching all the lightbulbs in every home in Baldwin County, Georgia to CFL's, the county would save over $40k a year. Switching to CFL's is definitely an ecocentric approach to conserving energy. CFL's benefit both the family and our society as a whole. Not only do they last a lifetime longer than regular bulbs, they also are using less energy, which in turn is helping out our society.
The less energy used, the better.
