Industrial Automation(PLC) and Electrical Motor Faults
Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullah, I hope everyone is well, I am also well by the grace of Alhamdulillah. I will now write a few words related to the topic of this contest. As much as I have an idea about the subject, I will try to give the maximum. I hope everyone will like this post and my expression. So let's get started without delay.
A. What do you understand by industrial automation?
Industrial automation refers to where industrial production processes are carried out using technology, software, and systems. Through this, human intervention is reduced, industrial production capacity is increased and the quality of the industry is improved.
Robotic system: - Robots are used in industrial automation through the use of robots, reducing human interference and completing the work accurately, due to these robots, the production capacity increases rapidly.
Process automation: – It is commonly used in various chemicals, such as food processing.
It controls the processes through various sensors, and thus manages the tasks.Automated Machining: – It is operated through a machine controlled by a computer.
AI Machine Learning: – At present, the production process is further improved through the use of this in the automation industry.
B. Write about the importance of industrial automation during the Industrial Revolution.
The Industrial Revolution began in the late 18th century, and was completed in the early 19th century. It can also be called the revolutionary era of industrial automation. During this time, industrial-automation caused economic, technological, and social changes all over the world. Industrial automation plays an important role in creating economic and social structures.
Increase in production capacity: During the Industrial Revolution, production capacity was increased by using mechanical power because it reduced labor dependence on people. The use of mechanical energy makes the work perfect and accurate.
Increasing the skills of workers: In industrial automation, people's labor dependence decreases on the one hand, just as the workers become proficient on a particular machine. Which increases their efficiency.
The advent of new industries: Industrial automation created new industries, such as textile artists spinning jenny, power loom etc.
Increase product quality and low production cost: – Industrial automation increases product quality and drives low-cost production activities.
Economic expansion of international trade: Industrial automation and increase in product production help to achieve economic expansion in international trade.
C. Write the names and operations of various parts of a PLC with a picture.
PLC is a modern electronics device, used in industrial automation, PLC is mainly composed of three parts, such as CPU, input output, and power supply.
Below are the names of the main parts of the PLC about their work:-
1. CPU (Central Processing Unit):- |
---|
The CPU is the brain of the PLC. The CPU usually consists of three main parts.
- Processor
- Memory
- Control system
Functions of CPU: –
Writing programs and verifying the effectiveness of the program.
Storing and retrieving data from memory.
2) Input-output:– |
---|
Input: – PLC contains input devices such as switches, buttons, etc.
Output:- The PLC output module transmits the output signal through the control device such as motor, light etc.
3) Power supply: |
---|
PLC plays an important role as a power source in the system.
Work:- PLC produces the power of the system.
D. Name five input and output electrical and electronics devices operated by PLC.
The names of the five input and output electronics operated by the PLC are mentioned below:- |
---|
Input Device:- | Output Device |
---|---|
1) Level switch | 1) Relay |
2) Sensors. | 2) Motor |
3) Switch | 3) Solenoid |
4) Push Button | 4) LED |
5) Temperature transmitter. | 5) Heater |
E. Practical: The power load for setting up an industry is assumed to be 10 MW. Five 5 kW and three 45 kW three-phase motors will be used in the production of the product. You are an electrician or electrical engineer in that company. Perform the following electrical works with responsibility:
The incoming electrical line in the industrial area is 11 KV. Prepare a transformer specification by first calculating the load.
1) Power Load Calculation:- |
---|
- First calculate the power greed of different motors and then determine the total power load: –
2) Now to receive 10 kV power from 11 kV electric line, the transformer has to be specific:- |
---|
3) Transformer voltage, transformer ratio to get 415 voltage output from 11 kV line should be:- |
---|
4) Transformer Specification:- |
---|
Capacity:-14,600 kVA
Type: -3 Phase, 50 HZ
Initial Voltage:-11 kV
Secondary Voltage: -415 V
Draw the starter (power circuit) for running a 5 kW three-phase motor and write the required materials.
The starter (power circuit) drawings and required materials for running a 5 kW three-phase motor are mentioned below:- |
---|
Required Ingredients:-
- Switch.
- Three phase motor
- Three phase supply.
- Stutter
- Three Phase Circuit Breaker
- Three Phase Contactor
- Overload relay.
- Emergency stop button.
- Fuse.
Draw the starter (power circuit) for running a 45 kW three-phase motor and write the necessary materials.
The starter (power circuit) drawings and required materials to run the 45 kW three-phase motor are mentioned below:- |
---|
Required Ingredients:-
- Switch.
- Three phase motor
- Three phase supply.
- Stutter
- Three Phase Circuit Breaker
- Three Phase Contactor
- Overload relay.
- Emergency stop button.
- Fuse.
- Three phase syfuse.
- Indicator light.
A 15 kW motor will keep the product in a fixed location. The motor must run in both directions. Draw the motor's power circuit and write down the materials required for making the circuit.
An inverted motor circuit has to be made to place the 15 kW motor in the specified place and to run in both directions. |
---|
Required Ingredients:-
- Switch.
- Three phase motor
- Three phase supply.
- Stutter
- Three Phase Circuit Breaker
- Three Phase Contactor
- Overload relay.
- Emergency stop button.
- Fuse.
- Three phase syfuse.
- Indicator light.
- Wiring.
F. Review the pictures of the motor checked with a multimeter in my lesson and write your opinion in your own words.
The use of a multimeter is a common method for motor testing. It helps to check the motor, electrical condition, current value, resistance voltage, etc.
On the basis of testing the motor, it is selected whether the motor is good or not according to some specific reasons.
Such as:- |
---|
- The correct resistance value.
- Voltage.
- Insulation test.
- Continuity test.
Considering these aspects, it is determined whether the motor is good or not.
In this great competition, I think everyone has the best. By participating, their talent and creativity can be revealed. There is no harm in participating, but there is a small gain. So I'm inviting some of my friends here. They are.
