Another big step for the ElectriCChain and SolarCoin; live posting of solar PV generation data to blockchain
Solarcoin and ElectriCChain are community driven initiatives, and once more the community has delivered an important piece of the solution to allow solar PV generation data to be recorded onto the SolarCoin blockchain.
Via a Telegram community channel, the same group that produced the first Raspberry Pi SolarCoin staking nodes, has now completed a proof of concept Python script to interface the Raspberry Pi with an Enphase solar installation owned by one of the community members.
The Enphase platform is ideally suited to this integration as it has two easily accessible APIs, one provided by the solar PV owners on site Envoy device, and another provided via the Enphase Enlighten web tools.
The community pooled various areas of knowledge and created an API caller that gathers the data from either the Envoy API or the web API, asks the user some basic questions about their solar PV installation, then instructs the SolarCoin wallet to make a small transaction to insert the data into the SolarCoin block chain.

The transaction is compliant with the ElectriCChain standard syntax, future developments will allow queries to be run on the blockchain data, which could allow for reporting on global solar PV generation in near real time or granting of SolarCoin to claimants based on generation data rather than system size.
The SolarCoin telegram group is doing well. Just the beginning of lots of great things to come.
