CHAPTER 7: PRE-SHOW

[Screen fades back in to show the outside of the OCW Arena. The sun is currently going down and there are fans
outside cheering for the camera as it pans across the line of them all. It stops at Big Julius, who stops the camera himself.]

Julius: What’s going on? It’s Big Julius and I am SO stoked right now. Billy is here with me.

[Quick shot of Billy Winn waving at the camera.]

Billy: Larry Saint Dubois was here, but I have no idea where he-

[LSD shows up while eating a hot dog.]

LSD: Hey guys, the snack bar is open.

Julius: You get my hot tamales?

[LSD hands Julius a box of candy and Julius accepts it. The camera focuses now on Billy Winn.]

Billy: I really need to give a big thank you to Sully for airing my first major job in the industry. That was a huge time in my life and I am so grateful.

LSD: Was that the one with Marvin and Fox?

Billy: Fox wasn’t there.

LSD: She’s here tonight! Marvin too! I heard Fox has something special in mind for the Xtreme Title Match. Wouldn’t it be cool if it involved Marvin? He’s already in the Lethal Lotto Match, so I don’t see why not have him as an enforcer or something.

Billy: It’s possible! The Xtreme Title rules mean literally anything is possible.

LSD: Except hardcore matches it seems. I mean it’s called the “Xtreme Title” and there’s no hardcore stuff?

Billy: We’ve talked about this before: the Xtreme Title is about mastery of match types. Every time the title is defended, there will be a completely random stipulation or match type placed right before the match begins.

LSD: At least we know who he’s fighting. The champion-

Billy: Konway.

LSD: Yeah the preacher guy! He’s fighting Ted Thomas, the high flyer from the south.

Billy: Yes! What do you think Julius?

Julius: Man, those Blood Angels need to lose some gold. They have been dominating since day one and now hold almost every single title. Only reason why they’re not wreaking havoc right now is because they choose not to. fans.

Billy: How about we ask some of these

[Billy leads the camera over to the fans waiting in line to enter the arena. Their cheers can be heard miles away as Billy points at one very young guy wearing a baseball cap.]

Julius: What’s your name random guy?

Seth: Seth.

Julius: Seth! Who do you think is going to stand tall when Konway faces Ted Thomas tonight?

Seth: Yeah, but I really want to know who is going to fight in the Lethal Lotto qualifier tonight.

Billy: Yes! Two randomly created teams of two will fight to see which of the two will go on to the Lethal Lotto Match.

Seth: Yeah, I mean I hope to see Sully fight tonight.

Julius: Oooooh

LSD: I’d love to see that too. He’s here tonight.

Seth: No way!

LSD: Yeah! He’s so big in person too.

Seth: I’m so excited.

Julius: So are we! Next fan?

Billy: Let’s do it!

[Billy leads the camera over to a large man with noticeable acne around his face and a shaggy beard.]

LSD: What’s going on big guy? What’s your name?

Kelsey: Kelsey.

LSD: Hi there man, what are you hoping to see tonight? We have the Xtreme Title planned and Sully is here.

Kelsey: He better be here, I paid so much for front row. I want those Vixens to be so close to me that I can smell them.

Billy: Oh?

[Billy backs away from Kelsey while Julius and LSD stay where they are.]

LSD: You must be a fan of the Vixens.

Kelsey: Yeah, they’re totally badass and I think some are really hot.

[Some cheers for that from surrounding people. One even pats Kelsey on the back. LSD and Julius both nod, they look at Billy and they walk away toward the entrance. Once inside, Julius tosses away his now empty box of candy and walk with LSD to the ringside area. Billy looks around and waves at the backstage correspondent, Ricardo, who is in a high chair and getting some makeup on. Billy walks over.]

Billy: Ricardo, what are you doing?

Ricardo: Unlike some of us, I take pride in my appearance. I want everything perfect and is that a live camera?

Billy: Umm yeah?

[Ricardo jumps up, lowers the chair and hops off.]

Ricardo: I mean I wanted to get my mustache trimmed. This thing takes a lot of work sometime. Come Billy, we have work to do.

Billy: Great, want to help me interview someone?

[Ricardo takes a moment]

Ricardo: Umm no, I was going to see about hitting the snack bar before I interview someone personally. I’m a little Mexican man and I need the energy to keep going.

[Ricardo walks away and Billy is soon left with the camera. Billy looks at the camera, shrugs and walks away.]

Billy: I guess it’s almost show time.
