This is awesome I didn't even know about the federation flag and I am an Aussie, I think it looked kinda cool. I think there was once in the late 80's or early 90's when they did a referendum about seperating from the crown. It had sand and sea I think.
Vexilollogy is not a very wide explored topic in the schools around the world so it makes sense. It's easy to get used to current flags and forget that they change pretty often.
