Metamorphosis is awesome, with an extreme / scary ending. I read it in German ( Die Verwandlung ) in high school and never forgot about it.
I would recommend you to watch the movie adaptation of the Trial. It's from 1962, directed by the notorious Orson Welles and stars Anthony Perkins, the main character in Alfred Hitchcock's 'Psycho' (1960).
I really like metamorphosis but I never read them while I am sad, it's only going to make me feel somber. I am going to google that movie, I should be working adding more information to this post :D
