What are Mind Maps? How can a steemian use them?
Ever feel like you have too many thoughts floating around in your head? I bet you do. Everyone does.
Ever feel like you don't have a way to express yourself? To give order to the chaos in your head? I bet you do. After all...everyone of us does.
Mind mapping is an effective way of getting information in and out of your head. Mind mapping is a creative and logical means of note-taking and note-making that literally is a sketch (I like to call it that way) of your ideas.
A mind map is a diagram used to visually organize information. A mind map is hierarchical and shows relationships among pieces of the whole. It is often created around a single concept, drawn as an image in the center of a blank page, to which associated representations of ideas such as images, words and parts of words are added. Major ideas are connected directly to the central concept, and other ideas branch out from those.
Think of it as a map of a city. The main idea is the center of it, the main roads leading from the center represent the key thoughts in your thinking process, the secondary roads or branches represent your secondary thoughts, and so on.
Mind maps can be drawn by hand and are extremely useful when it comes to giving substance to brainstormed ideas.
It is a great way to force your brain to come up with ideas about a specific central idea and bring high quality posts to the community, improve your creativity and the rewards will also come accordingly.
Tony Buzan created mind maps to aid the memory, visual thinking and problem solving of students of all ages thus improve their education. So feel free to use them in any subject you want to retain in your brain, or any other problem you want to solve and need to see from a different perspective.
While creating them you can use different colors, drawning symbols or anything else you can imagine that is going to capture your attention. You can also draw them in paper or pc software.
It is amazing that when you are presented with an impossible to solve problem or an impossible to remember bunch of information, the only thing you have to do is to picture them in a different way and then it becomes a piece of cake, similar to changing the variables in a math problem and then the solution is just right there in front of your eyes.

Excellent!
Lol, I was going to rant about Mind Maps but then I saw it is a post from you. So I will hold my horses and say just this: They are creative, fun and a good alternative to normal notes. They are not so helpful when it comes to memory. And Tony Buzan is not who most people think he is. I know that for sure since I met him often enough. Have a look into the Mind Map business and how he tries to control it. It is the same thing he tried with memory sports. To be fair, I think he is not really well and probably suffers from a degenerative desease for years now. It is his partner Ray Keene doing the realy shady stuff for them.
