#Loving Yourself
This past weekend many of us celebrated the Royal Wedding of Megan and Harry. Prior to that many of us celebrated Mother’s Day- the day where we show love and honor for our mothers. Father’s day is fast approaching.
Showing love to our family and friend is important, but more important is the love we show ourselves.
Why? Loving yourself is the basis for being able to love someone else. Have you ever been in a relationship with someone with low self- esteem or who simply did not value themselves? It was probably difficult for him or her to demonstrate feelings of love for you; and difficult for you to trust them with your heart. As my pastor says, love is an action verb. Show and tell are an important part of loving someone.
What Happens when you Love Yourself?
When you love yourself you honor your body by treating it well. This might include: getting a proper amount of sleep; eating well and exercising. It also might include choosing your friends and lovers carefully, and not engaging in toxic relationships.
When you love yourself, it strengthens you overall. It gives you energy to search for your purpose in life. It also helps you to recognize love when it enters your life. Love should make you feel good and help you to grow as an individual. Don’t accept anything less… Until next time. pattypaula
