RE: Why Native Speakers Make Bad Teachers・Language Learning Tips

in #education6 years ago

I always love your Booktube videos, but your language videos are so useful too! And you're absolutely right: as a native English speaker, I often have no idea why something is said one way vs. another, it's just "the way things are", and I go with the flow.

I'm fortunate in that I have access to a native Japanese speaker who is also trained in classroom instruction, which has helped my ability to speak immeasurably. Still extremely slow on the reading part (Kanji, I think, is every gaijin's nightmare), but I feel comfortable with very basic conversations, which is important. :)

Thanks so much for posting this. I love your positive outlook and upbeat personality, whether you're talking about a book you really loved or one you just couldn't finish. :)

Thanks so much, I really appreciate it! That's great :D working with native speakers is absolutely invaluable in my opinion, but so many people have randomly asked me to teach them German (or English) that at this point I just felt like I needed to set the record straight on what you can actually expect from such an interaction :)
