Everyone should Drive an Electric Car

in #education8 years ago

The electric car has been around for years now, but what happened to it? Why is the electric car not common like it is supposed to be? One of the first electric cars was built back in 1895 by Thomas Parker. Electric cars have been undervalued for years until now. The electric car is superior than the any gas engine car and that is why everyone needs to drive one.

One main reason is that electric cars have better technology than gas engine cars, because they are faster. Nowadays there are electric cars like the Tesla in which is technologically more advanced than any other regular gas engine car. This Tesla car’s technology is outstanding when it comes to performance and features. One online film "The Fastest Street-Legal Electric Car Is a Chevrolet Corvette." stated “The Tesla Model S can go from 0 to 60 in only 2.8 seconds, faster than any gas car. It would be easy to assume the Tesla Model S is the fastest electric car in the world. The P90D can, after all, hit 60 mph in less than 2.8 seconds and is limited to a top speed of 155 mph.” This is the perfect example that explains why electric cars are technologically more advanced than gas engine cars.

Another reason why everyone should drive an electric car is because they will save a lot of money. Nissan released a fully electric vehicle that is affordable for the regular consumer called the Nissan Leaf. This car starts at $29,010 brand new. It’s considered affordable, because the user will not pay for oil change and gas. The electric vehicle consumer can save money by charging their electric cars at the electric charging stations that are around the city for free, they don’t have to charge it home and consume their own electricity. These vehicles are low in maintenance costs. One online film "5 Reasons That Electric Vehicles Are Better than Gasoline Vehicles." stated “Electric cars do not require oil changes, because there is no oil used to run the engines. Same for fan belts, air filters, spark plugs or any of other parts that need occasional replacement for a gasoline car. Even the brakes on an EV last longer than a gasoline car because EV slows the car by reversing the electrical motor instead of applying mechanical friction.” The electric car saves more money to its consumers than gas car consumers.

Many may argue that gas engine cars are good. After all, gas engine cars are what most us have been using. I understand why most of the population drives a gas engine car. However, the electric car is environmentally friendly. Electric cars are green; they protect the environment. These cars are actually proven that they provide pollution reduction. One online film "Electric Cars Are Better than Gas Cars When It Comes to Emissions, Study Says." states “The average electric car in the U.S. produces pollution similar to that of a gas vehicle that gets 68 miles per gallon, the study showed. That means that EVs cut emissions by 60 percent when compared to an average gas-powered car.” Electric vehicles are designed ecofriendly. Nowadays you go to a charging station and charge your car with the power of the sun without the combustion of gas.

Finally, it is clear that gas engine cars must go. To ride gas engine cars is an old concept that may be acceptable back in time, but not anymore. We must change to electric vehicles to save the beautiful planet we live in. Electric cars are cooler than gas cars, they are more convenient, they save you money, and they are futuristic. Electric vehicles are better than old gas engine cars hands down. If people are well educated about electric cars, they would prefer an electric car. In a future, there will be more electric cars than regular gas cars, solar panels will charge every electric vehicle there is, and the world will be a cleaner place to live.
