BE ONE WITH A WINNING MENTAL

I often hear to be number one must defeat the others. This principle is often used in the business world to dominate the market. The strategy carried out is to turn off the opponents in the market. There is a story that I have read about a teacher in class teaching. The teacher made a horizontal straight line on the blackboard as long as 1 m. Then he asks his students who can shorten the straight line. A student advances and removes the line 20 cm long, so that the straight line remains 80 cm.

The teacher asks again who can shorten the line. Then two students raised their hands and the two students did the same thing. They delete the line until the line length is 50 cm. The teacher asks the students again, who can shorten the line. The fourth student advances, and what is done is to draw another parallel line, which is 1 m long. Then the line that stays 50 cm becomes shorter because there is a longer line.

Then the Master tells that if we want to be the smartest, we must study hard so that their intelligence exceeds the others. Don't make the others so you look the smartest. In everyday life we often hear the word competition, said competition itself has the connotation to compete so that we can become opportunities. I often hear in the competition that the strategy is how to turn off the opponent. So we win because there are no more opponents. This method is done by students who erase the lines to be shorter. The world will not experience any progress if we always compete by turning off or defeating their opponents.

I prefer to use the word race, to be able to have a market for a larger product. So we need to race to win the market without having to think about how to kill the opponent. For the same person, when we compete with others, we often think about how to win. For example, by vilifying the opponent, his opponent's hopes will be bad and he will win. Actually these acts will be judged by different people. If we disparage others in the hope that others will see us better. Actually it's a wrong thing because everyone can judge others.

Lessons Learned

After I learned the lesson above that to be a winner must try hard to really have the quality of a winner. I am a person who is happy with challenges, always wants to be the number one person. Sometimes I like to belittle others so that I am considered a great person. After I learned that demeaning others was one of pride, and I knew very well that arrogant people were hard to succeed. Especially when the business that I did fell until it collapsed. That's where I began to feel that my abilities were actually nothing.

I began to learn to be humble and to respect others. It turned out that I felt that there were many things that I didn't know yet. The more learning, the more you want to know. That's where I realized that there were so many things I didn't know yet, even though before I felt I had mastered many things. So when I read about Johari Windows, I was very aware that things that we didn't know were very broad.

My conclusion to be a winner must be to continue to explore what we do not yet know. So that we have the ability to continue to grow to be better. Likewise, when building a company, continuing to develop the capabilities of the people in the company, there are certainly many things we will explore. So that it will produce a good product. Of course, to always grow, you have to work hard and not be crying. The challenge will be even greater when climbing to a higher place.
