Since half of the Earth is day and half is night, what happens if I go to where the day and night meet?

Go to the place where day and night meet, and you will see one of the most spectacular sights available on Earth. I call it “an eclipse of the Earth”, in analogy to the eclipses of the Moon and of the Sun. More commonly, it’s called a sunrise or sunset. It is one of the most beautiful things you’ll ever see. This eclipse changes rapidly with time; it is exciting to watch. I attach one of the photos I’ve taken. I’ve seen four solar eclipses, and many lunar eclipses, and for sheer beauty, they don’t really compare.

It is worth traveling a thousand miles to see this. Fortunately, you don’t have to. Except at regions near the poles, it happens twice each day. Remarkably, because it is more common than solar or lunar eclipses, many people in the path don’t bother watching it! It requires a good view of the horizon, and many people either sleep through it or don’t bother going to a spot with a clear view.

Don’t miss it! It is beautiful and thrilling.
