I think you could simplify the process as you can use a service like blocktrades to exchange SBD directly to any Bitcoin wallet, which could be at Cryptopay. One of the issues now is the high fee for any Bitcoin transfer. Blocktrades reckons $13, so you need to transfer larger sums for it to be worth it. I'll have a look at Cryptopay anyway. It looks like their card was also affected by the Visa action. I'd be happy to get money in my bank account and I'd like it to be fairly simple and convenient.

Ok thanks, I haven't looked into block trades, I can't remember why. Didn't realise how high bitcoin transfers are now! What's the visa action?

There's a company called Wavecrest that supplied cards for Bitwala, Crypopay and others. Visa withdrew their right to do this at very short notice. See this. I've not heard exactly why this happened yet.

Oh shit, that's bad. If you find an alternative route to getting cash into your bank account can you let me know?

Of course I'll post about it

So I just spoke to Cryptopay and they have told me that it's still possible to do bank transfers even though the virtual cards are down.

"- Can I still transfer crypto into my account and send it as a bank transfer?

  • Yes, sure. If your account is verified and your bank account is located in the SEPA zone"

Just thought I'd update you :)

Thanks. I just sold some SBD to a friend for Paypal funds and someone else is interested. That may be enough for now. With the current low price I expect people will be looking to buy.
