RE: Surthrival Trailer Mark 1 Update 39 Generator Integration Testing
Why the 10% set point? I would think 30% to 60% discharged (depending on battery type) might give the batteries a little more exercise.
I am glad you got it running! Happy times in 2019.

Thank you sir! I believe if you go below 80%depth of discharge you can begin to degrade these wet cell batteries. The 90% gives their controller some buffer I guess. Happy new year @smithlabs!

Oh, so you are running down further that 10%. I misunderstood, the discharge levels you intended.
I am working on LiIon batteries, to run the house I am rebuilding! So far I have 8,000 watts of the 21,000 watt battery I intend to start with. I will take the cells down to 3.0 volts to protect the cells. I will run 24 volt battery banks.

I was looking at Edison cells, may go there if I can figure out the build. Those can not be damaged by discharge, and last half a century. There is one commercial manufacturer, but they are in China, so I do NOT trust them.
But I have most of the ingredients and I am looking for containers for the cells.

I'd love to see your DIY build of the nickel Iron batteries I'm a big fan of them myself. There is a company Iron Edison that I believe is based here in the US https://ironedison.com/store
No, these are the ones from China.
But I hope to make my own. The best I have been able to find thus far is a 2 quart canning jar. But it is limited to the diameter of a wide mouth jar opening. I need to build a couple to test for capacity before I order large volumes of powdered metals.
Initially, I plan to use LiIon 18650s for my battery bank. I have about a third of what I need already. I am salvaging them from old laptop battery packs.

Ahh dang, they get you on the fine print! Beautiful! you've gotta come on the podcast I co-host MeadowsandMakers sometime. I'd love to get to chat with you on air good sir!
I Love making stuff! When I get the LiIon battery together, I will post, and you can tell me what you think of it. I have been collecting information on the Edison Cell, and it looks like it is as close to a permanent cell as anything.
I take care of my wife, so scheduling for a broadcast is hard, she is my priority. We have purchased land in the country by the Lake (lake Keystone), and I am rebuilding the house now so we can move. I intend to run all the lighting on 24 volt DC, and to make the house a zero net energy house, running on solar, with wind generators for backup.
I have to move my machine shop, and my electronics lab but I have to build the building for it first. Kind of crazy right now....
