
Thirty-three years after the 1986 Chernobyl nuclear disaster, the access to the ghost town of Pripyat in Ukraine is still restricted. The drone footage shows abandoned houses and parks, as well as the infamous reactor, where the 1986 catastrophe happened.

And yet we still insist on using 40-year-old reactors with outdated fuel systems and just as faulty fail safes. Why aren't we pursuing safer forms of nuclear power? Ones with shorter half lives and more stable spent fuel? You'd think we've learned from the disasters over the last decades...
