Pokematic Reviews SpongeBob Truth or Square (REMASTERED)
So about 10 years ago SpongeBob Truth or Square premiered as the 10th anniversary special for SpongeBob Squarepants, and about 10 years ago a teenage Pokematic reviewed it as one of his very first reviews. Well something happened with movie maker and the video didn't render properly where only half was shown, a flaw that was found out 3-4 years after making and posting the review. I thought about fixing it, but I just never got around to it. Well, 10 years later and the 20th anniversary of SpongeBob special reviewed (and better video editing software that ISN'T movie maker), I figured this was probably the best time to remaster it.
Wow, going back to this was quite an experience. It's crazy to see how far I've come. I learned about "change your camera every 5-10 seconds to keep your audience interested" in my highschool film class, but I didn't really like how strict she made it, so I didn't change it as much. I also wasn't as expressive as I am now. Part of it was because I was still figuring out how to do "expressive without explicit" (because all my references at the time were very vulgar because that was the state of vloggers and webcam users in 2009). Another part was because "webcam vlogs" were the only medium I was using then; it was long before I did "podcasts for normal expressions, blogs for well written essays, webcam for highly expressive content." I think another aspect was I was filming on my parents laptop in their kitchen without their permission (to this day they don't know about Pokematic), and this was after school before they came home, and I didn't want them walking into me yelling at the camera/I needed to hear them opening the door.
Looking at what I included and the video file names, I noticed I didn't do 2nd takes. I don't know why exactly, but I think it had something to do with "I want to film this before my parents get home from work" and 2nd takes would just waste time.
I'm really glad I saved the master files all these years, because the audio is pretty low and movie maker doesn't have a "boost audio" option. Thankfully now I have an editing suit with an audio boost option. I have other videos from back then that I could remaster. I think I might one day. I needed to do it with this video because the video didn't render right, but I think I might remaster big picture show as well because that's the sister video; both specials aired on the same weekend, both caused me to come out of hiatus, and it's the first time I ever used my theme song (of which I'm still using the same audio file all these years later).
