[EP90] - Kicked out of my house by my own kitchen. What a jerk!

in #dtube6 years ago (edited)

Hi everyone!
Hope you're all well!

Super weird weekend... had no plans on Saturday... so decided to rip open our kitchen floor to find a mini lake between the vinyl and the floorboards from a pipe that burst 2 weeks earlier.

By Saturday afternoon we had had plumbers in to fix in... and then restoration guys who came and undid all the plumbing and set up crazy massive fans to try and dry and extract the moisture out of the floor. The noise is at 90 decibels... we did not sleep well on Saturday night.

By Sunday we were pretty much completely crazy and sleep deprived, moved into a hotel and today we've just received bad news after bad news from insurance companies, the restoration guys, and the insurance adjuster.
It looks like the damage has been so bad that pretty much the whole kitchen might get ripped out, definitely not something we were planning or budgeted for....... and that's my excuse for this terrible quality video.

Have a great weekend!
Thanks for watching!

Sorry to hear about this @ninjavideo. I do hope things get back on track for you as soon as possible. I know it must be an unreal headache to deal with something of this nature. Resteemed

Whoa! Thanks for the resteem! That's ace... thank you so much, I really appreciate it.
Looks like we're going to need to be away from the house for 3 more days than we were expecting... which is a pain, but I think we'll need to do whatever it takes to get a healthy house... mould can cause some serious issues.

Reading the title, I was like, WHAT?!? Until I read the actual post :p

Haha, yes!!!! Does that mean I win 'Clickbaitiest title of the day'?

Will your homeowner's insurance be able to help cover most of the cost?

Thanks DDR Freak, yes... but not as much as we'd like. They're only going to cover $20 a day in hotel costs, and not going to cover plumbing repairs at all. The insurance guy is coming around tomorrow, so we're still a couple of days away from finding out how much of the actual repair work they'll cover.

Thats gotta suck. Hope everything works out for you. Life kicks us square in the balls sometimes.

Haha, thanks! That's so poetic!
Yeah, sometimes you've got to roll with the punches.
We're lucky in that I've been trying to aggressively pay off bank loans and stuff, but that means we will have funds we can withdraw if we need to... if this had happened last year we would have been in trouble.
