DTube VS YouTube, and why DTube is the future YouTube

Hello!

So, if you're reading this, you either don't know what DTube is or you're curious as to what the difference is.

I'm relatively new to the Steemit platform so if I get/do something wrong, feel free to correct me.

I am a YouTuber with under 1,000 subscribers (Currently at 184 subscribers) and although I didn't make much money at all (About $12 a month) I'm still frustrated that YouTube is cutting monetization for for small youtubers with under 1K subs and less than 4,000 hours of video watch time in the past year.

Anyways, on to the point of this posting. What is DTube? And why are people using it?

Basically, youtubers earn money by ads, and they can "monetize" or add ads to their videos to make them money for their work. But, for the past few months to year, YouTube has basically been "screwing over" many YouTubers by either completely disabling their monetization or making ads rarely show up. Since many YouTubers rely on ad revenue for their entire or most of their income, this can be pretty scary.

But with DTube, there is a different story. Basically, DTube is a "decentralized YouTube", which means DTube doesn't have entire control over the platform. With DTube, instead of having to rely on an advertisement system which can be unreliable for income, you are paid out in Steem Dollars, for people liking your videos. (Or something else, I'm probably missing something, maybe the amount of subscribers and views affects income?)

Steem Dollars is a cryptocurrency and is related to Steem, which you may or may not have heard of. Steem is the cryptocurrency people on Steemit are paid for when people upvote what they say.

How is DTube better than YouTube?

Great question! Right now, it isn't. It's still a relatively new service that does in my eyes need to grow before it can truly be considered a YouTube competitor. Due to how much bigger YouTube is, there is a chance you will make more money with them instead of DTube, but you never know. If you go to DTube's website (D.Tube) you will see the layout is kind of similar to YouTube's.

If you want to start uploading videos and taking in all that sweet crypto and money, it isn't as simple as creating a gmail and logging into YouTube. First, you must make a Steemit account. Then, after your account is approved (Typically 24 - 72 hours) you can then find your "Private Posting Key" which will be in your Steemit account settings, and you can use that along with your Steemit username to log into DTube and start uploading.

Plus, you can see how much a video has made on DTube which I find pretty neat.

Now how can this be the future YouTube?

Well, if YouTube continues to hurt channels that keep it running, more and more people will go to DTube in search of gaining an audience and getting money. Of course, it isn't as simple as creating a random video and uploading it and people will flock to your video and trucks of cash fly to your house. You have to create quality videos and create an audience before you start getting money.

With a lot of work on getting it more popular, and people start using it more along with mobile applications made for it, I believe DTube can be as big if not bigger than YouTube, as long as it doesn't screw over it's users :)

(And if p0rn websites wouldn't show up when you Google "Dtube" XD
