RE: Minimalism - Homemade Wood Polish w/ Beeswax & Coconut Oil

in #dtube7 years ago

super cool post. The living off the grid thing has always interested me a lot. What would some good alternatives be for making this is a more bushcraft scenario. Beeswax wouldn't be too hard to get. Perhaps some sort of animal fat and charcoal for the odor?

Sort:

I think any kind of oil or fat would work, as long as you keep in mind the consistency at certain temperatures when coming up with your mixing ratios.

Charcoal for odor is an interesting idea! I've never tried our heard of anyone trying it though. Seems like the charcoal might be blocked from absorbing anything due to the beeswax surrounding it.

aah yes that may be true. A surface dusting may help limit smell of fats on a hot day, but may increase the amount of heat absorbed, causing dripping or maybe fire in extreme cases. Who knows. A test my be in order
