In this weeks' episode of the Level Up Your Blog podcast we dive deep into the art of the niche.

The episode was recorded live on the @minnowsupport's MSP Waves Radio this past Wednesday at 12 am UTC (Tuesday for everyone behind UTC like myself).

The next show will be Wednesday, March 7th at the same time (Tuesday, March 6th for the US). To find what the time in you zone head over to TimeAndDate.com, that link will show the event page and list the time for all time zones.

The Content

There was no stone unturned in this hour! We talk about why having a niche is essential, how to find the best nich, and what to do once you have your niche nailed down.

I encourage audience participation as well, and I do spend time reading relevant questions that arise throughout the show. If you have questions while listening, please feel free to leave a comment and I'll be happy to help you out.

Brief Overview

What Is A Niche?

A niche in blogging is a specific topic we set ourselves to write about. It can be anything from technology to cooking to sewing. The choice of your niche is up to you to decide.

Why Have A Niche?

Writing within a niche allows you to grow your blog most effectively because your follows know what to expect. Retention rate increases, followers increase, and, in turn, the post payouts increase over time. If you just write about whatever you feel, it will be a much more difficult grind than blogging is already.

How Do You Pick Your Niche?

The best way to choose your niche is to think back on your life and find that one subject you always go back to year after year.

For me, it's technology and, specifically, computer technology and privacy. For you, it may be cars, drawing, or poetry. Whatever it is, that should be your niche. Doing so will allow you to have the motivation to write when it looks like no one is reading.

Thanks!

Thank you so much for checking out this post, and I hope you find value and learn at least one thing from the podcast. Feel free to download the file and play it on the go or in the office while you go about your life. Hope to see you live this Tuesday at 7 pm EST!

Thanks for the chat the other night. I did take your advice and write a longer post. Not sure i'll move away from 2 /day - but I'll at least try to add a longer one in there once in a while.

That's great! Keep working your best to create the best!

Lucky I am an artist, not so hard to find a niche for me. So many great contests on here and you can start your feel a real community take shape around them. (Also commenting so I can find this easier when I get home to listen)

@heyitsjooo Listen to this recording for even better advice on how to "level up your blog" and also try to catch his radio show live on MSP Waves! It's in the same timeslot as my show but on Tuesday instead of Wednesday. :)

@jrswab sadly I still have not found my niche

You can do it! It only takes a little effort.
