Back in 2002 my band, The Rudimentals, were playing Ska music and part of a burgeoning culture of live music in Cape Town.

The "scene" back then was something unique and wonderful. As young musicians we would all go out and attend each others' shows, supporting each other front-and-centre in the limited amount of live music venues we had at the time.

As a band we used to do what we called "hand-to-hand-combat", which was our little form of organic marketing. We would walk around the University Campuses and bars around town, hand out fliers, and talk to people about our band. I must admit our tactic was to speak to mostly the hottest women, because our theory was, where the hot women go, the men follow 😂

This is the first track off of our debut album, More Fire, recorded under very interesting conditions, which I'lll tell you about in the next post.
